A jobless male was arrested after stripping naked at a Barrier Gate checkpoint bus stop last Monday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Erica Cheong Im Sim said yesterday during a regular press conference.
According to Cheong, the 31-year-old suspect, surnamed Lam, was standing at the bus stop at 11 a.m. Cheong said that a 50-year-old shop staff was working at a store opposite the bus stop and saw the suspect acting suspiciously. Cheong said that then the shop staff witnessed the suspect “swiftly” removing his all clothes, including trousers and underpants and then stood at the bus stop completely naked.
Cheong said that the shop staff felt “disgusted” by the scene and could “not erase the image from her brain”, so she decided to report the case to the police. Cheong said that after the police watched the CCTV in the area, they successfully identified and located the male.
Cheong noted that the male was arrested on Monday night at around 8 p.m. in a building near the Barrier Gate checkpoint. Cheong said that the suspect denied the accusation, adding that the purpose for his action was still being investigated.
According to Cheong, the suspect has since been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for further questioning, facing a charge of exhibitionism, according to Article 165 of the Macau Penal Code, which carries a prison term of up to one year.
