Suspect illegally enters vacant plot of land
A Tanzanian man was arrested for taking drugs and entering a boarded-up private plot of land in Calçada do Tronco Velho, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The jobless suspect surnamed Rwambo, who is in his thirties, holds a temporary stay permit.
According to Lai, a resident living in the neighbourhood told a PSP officer on patrol in the area in the wee hours of last Thursday that a “foreign man” had illegally entered a boarded-up privately-owned vacated plot of land earlier that night. The officer went to the plot of land where he verified that the metal door of the plot of land was locked and undamaged.
Lai said that when the officer intercepted Rwambo at the scene the latter’s state of mind appeared to be “abnormal”. He was taken to hospital where he tested positive for amphetamine and ice.
Under questioning, Rwambo admitted to taking drugs and told the police that he bought ice from “someone” he didn’t know for 300 patacas at an entertainment venue in Zape a month ago.
He also admitted that he illegally entered the plot of land.
At the time of the press conference the Public Security Police were still trying to contact the owner of the plot of land, Lai said.
Rwambo has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing drug abuse charges, according to Lai.
