Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited said in a statement on Friday that in order to encourage its staff to get vaccinated, it is offering a monetary reward to every single staff member that gets jabbed, adding that it will select up to six staff from its Macau and Hong Kong base each to receive up to a million patacas as a prize once a certain number of employees are vaccinated.

The statement said that Melco plans to launch a 16 million-pataca vaccination reward plan for its staff, adding that it is the first local gaming operator to launch such a pecuniary reward plan.
According to the statement, each staff member who has had both jabs will receive a thousand patacas. The statement added that once a certain percentage has been reached by both the Macau and Hong Kong base staff, the company will “select” up to six employees to get a million-pataca prize each.
The company stressed the main aim of the company right now was to promote COVID-19 vaccination in order to achieve herd immunity. Therefore, it has collaborated with the local Health Bureau (SSM) in launching the plan. The statement said that Melco has arranged for its staff to attend a vaccine explanatory presentations and is providing a free shuttle bus for its employees to go to different vaccination facilities. The company is also giving the staff two days off to have their injection, the statement said.
