A man from the mainland was arrested on Sunday for reporting a false case of robbery to the police, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Chong identified the suspect as a 38-year-old man surnamed Ren who is the owner of a bed and breakfast (B&B) establishment in the mainland. The victims are two middle-aged men from Southeast Asia holding valid travel documents.
According to Chong, Ren reported to the Public Security Police (PSP) on Saturday evening that he had been “robbed” by two “female” Southeast Asians. He claimed that they had taken HK$19,000 from his bag. Ren told the police that he met the two “females” on Avenida de D. João IV (約翰四世大馬路), offering to provide massage and sex services. After negotiating, they agreed on a price of HK$1,000 for their services. Ren then took the two “women” to a nearby hotel. After engaging in sexual activities, both told him that the payment was HK$1,000 for each of them. An argument ensued, and Ren eventually paid a total of HK$2,000 before they left the hotel.
Feeling aggrieved that the two “women” had raised the price, Ren returned to his guestroom in another hotel and reported that he had been “robbed” by them. However, the police found that the facts did not align with his claim, the duo were actually men wearing women’s clothing.
After repeated questioning, Ren finally admitted to falsely accusing the “women” of robbery. He also claimed that he had been unaware that they were men, even after the sexual interaction.
Ren has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of reporting a false case to the police. According to Article 330 of the Macau Penal Code, he faces up to one year behind bars.
