The 9th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE), organised by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), will take place from July 9-11 at the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, an MGTO statement said yesterday.
According to the statement, the expo is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in coordination with the Macau Travel Agency Association. The statement underlined that the expo features both virtual and physical exhibitions to connect Macau’s travel trade and related sectors with their international counterparts.
The statement noted that there will be 710 booths, adding that as of Tuesday, there were around 365 exhibitors, which included 99 local and 243 mainland exhibitors, as well as 23 international exhibitors. The statement also said that 363 buyers including 205 buyers from the mainland and 158 online buyers from around the world have been invited.
The statement also said that in order to underline Macau’s unique advantages, the expo will incorporate new elements and enhance interactive exchanges with five major “highlights” to spur Macau’s tourism revival. The statement pointed out that the expo aims to strengthen concerted development between tourism and MICE, e-commerce, gastronomy, culture and creativity among other fields, with the commitment to unveil new possibilities for exchanges and cooperation among travel and related sectors, in line with the government’s plans to deepen cross-sector integration of “tourism +”.
According to the statement, the expo has five main goals, namely strengthening “Cloud Series” for integration of online and offline exhibitions; expanding the size of the expo’s “Macau Street” and boosting the local tourism economy; promoting Macau’s culinary heritage, innovation and exchanges via a “City of Gastronomy” demonstration; promoting cultural tourism development through the integration of “tourism + culture and creativity”; and promoting “Distinctive Shops” and enhancing brand images.
Moreover, the statement said that the expo includes a host of other events, such as a launch ceremony for MGTO’s Official Flagship Store on Ctrip App and a workshop about e-commerce platform skills provided by Trip.com.
The statement said the expo will offer an online appointment system to implement “admission quotas, advance appointments and staggered periods”, adding that the public can already log into MITE’s official website www.mitExpo.mo to schedule an appointment for a visit, while those without an appointment can queue at the venue’s entrance. The statement pointed out that pre-registered visitors will be given a “Checkpoint Map” and given a souvenir upon checking in at specified spots in the exhibition halls. The statement also stressed that MGTO will rigorously abide by the Health Bureau’s (SSM) guidelines by requesting visitors to wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and display a valid Macau Health Code.
According to the statement, during the expo, a free shuttle bus service comprising four routes will be provided between the venue and various points in the Macau peninsula and Taipa, pointing out that free parking will also be available to attendees at the Venetian Macao.
