Macau General Union of Neighbourhood Associations Social Affairs Committee Vice Director Ho Weng Hong said yesterday he had reservations about the government’s plan to formally launch the bus-only lane connecting Barra and Lam Mau Tong in Fai Chi Kei next month.

Ho made remarks on the sidelines of a forum hosted by the Macau Wisdom Convergence think tank in Iao Hon district where he was a guest speaker.

Ho said it would not be possible to assess the effectiveness of the lane before September, when the new school year starts. The 1.5 kilometre-long bus-only lane, which comprises three separate sections, is implemented during peak hours from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day, on a trial basis.
