Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A. has announced a donation of 80 million patacas to the University of Macau Development Foundation (UMDF), contributing to the ongoing development of the University of Macau (UM) and its Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management.
A cheque donation ceremony took place at Wynn Palace on August 9. The Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management of the University of Macau highlights interdisciplinary cooperation, with its aim being to promote interdisciplinary research that has significant implications for the socio-economic development of Macau and the Greater Bay Area. It achieves effective research results by integrating comprehensive professional knowledge from different colleges and faculties, with the research focusing on three main areas, namely financial innovation, smart tourism and Asia-focused economics. At the beginning of this year, the Academy hosted the “Smart Tourism Symposium 2021 – Macau Smart City Initiative: Opportunities and Challenges for the Tourism Industry”, which invited representatives from the government, industry and academic sectors to discuss the current issues and opportunities facing Macau’s tourism industry.
Linda Chen Chih-ling, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited, was invited to participate in the discussion and share her experience. She also gave a speech titled “Using Smart City Technology to Boost Macau’s Development as a World Centre for Tourism and Leisure” to discuss potential approaches for Macau’s tourism industry, particularly on offering inspiration to the development strategy of Macau’s tourism industry in the post-pandemic era.
Over the years, Wynn has been committed to supporting the development of the University of Macau through the UMDF, including the academic and research initiatives of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management, and collaboration with the Faculty of Business Administration, the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the State Key Laboratory of the Internet of Things for Smart City in carrying out interdisciplinary cooperation, as well as actively providing academic and technical support to the economic development of the Greater Bay Area. – wpr
