Gongbei Customs District said in a statement yesterday that it found 50,000 unbranded facemasks, which neither indicated their manufacturer nor whether they meet official quality standards, at the Hong Kong –Zhuhai –Macau Bridge (HZMB) checkpoint.
The statement called the facemasks “three lacking”, meaning they have no indications about their brand, manufacturer’s address, and quality certification. The statement noted that the facemasks were found on a delivery lorry departing from Zhuhai en route to Macau. The statement pointed out that the facemasks were packaged for retail purposes. The statement underlined that the facemasks were confiscated.
The statement said that the customs officials have been carefully monitoring the exports of medical items, stressing that the officers have been clamping down on those who cheat on customs declarations or attempt to cross border checkpoints with illegal medical resources.
