The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement yesterday that the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) found an excessive amount of E. coli (Escherichia coli) in the coastal waters at Cheoc Van Beach, urging residents not to swim there.

According to the statement, DSAMA officials have hoisted the red flag to warn residents not to swim there. The statement pointed out that the government will continue to monitor the situation and will update residents about the water quality.

The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) reminded residents that those who are planning to go to the city’s two beaches – Cheoc Van (Bamboo Bay) and Hac Sa (Black Sand) – for water activities should pay close attention to the flags hoisted at the respective locations. The statement also said that residents may access DSAMA’s app and website to get the latest updates on the two beaches.
