An exhibition entitled “Creative City Pavilion (創意城巿館): Linz: City of Media Arts – The Art of Interface” (林茨:媒體藝術之都 ─ 接合點), which is a part of the ongoing Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021 event, is being held at Mong-Ha Villas.
The exhibition is hosted by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) in conjunction with the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
According to a statement by the bureau, the exhibition displays nine artistic interpretations of human-computer relationships. They emerged from the active digital art scene at the UNESCO City of Media Arts, Linz in Austria.
The statement pointed out that “media art and design practices have recently developed a wide range of artworks based on interfaces, some of which place emphasis on uncovering hidden aspects of the constant gaze from others. The exhibition showcases a number of internationally renowned multimedia artists’ work, including interactive installations and multimedia, to demonstrate the cutting-edge charm of contemporary interactive art, leading the audience to search for the form and existing meaning of interface.”
As one of the world’s cities which hosts one of the longest lasting media art events in the world, Linz promotes innovative media art education on an international level, the statement underlined.
The exhibition’s curators are Christa Sommerer and César Escudero Andaluz. The chief curator is local poet and translator Yao Feng (姚風).
The exhibition runs until October 24 at the galleries of Mong-Ha Villas (望廈山房) at 55-61 Avenida do Coronel Mesquita. It opens daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, visit the website https://www.artmacao.mo/2021/eng.
As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the villas must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a valid Macau Health Code.
