A local man was arrested last Thursday for taking drugs earlier that day in a public toilet in Rua dos Curtidores, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said at a press conference on Monday.

The 36-year-old jobless suspect is surnamed Fong.

According to Cheong, a resident reported to the Public Security Police last Thursday afternoon that a man was lying on the floor of a public toilet in Rua dos Curtidores near Kiang Wu Hospital. PSP officers went to the scene and by then Fong had already woken up. The officers discovered two syringes in the toilet rubbish bin, and two blue smurf pills in Fong’s backpack. Under questioning, Fong admitted to taking drugs and claimed that “someone” had given him the drugs “as a gift”. Fong tested positive for drugs.

Fong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of the illegal use of narcotics and psychotropic substances and illegal possession of drug-taking paraphernalia, according to Cheong.
