The Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) will upgrade its plastic bottle collection machines during the current quarter to enable the collection of beverage cans, according to a statement by the bureau.
With the upgrade, the statement said that the current machines will allow for the collection of beverage cans that have a capacity of up to 1 litre and a diameter of less than 12 cm. The tins must be cleaned prior to being put in the machine and have a barcode, the statement added.
The statement noted that originally, 43 plastic bottle collection points were installed in various areas of Macau, starting at the end of October 2019. The statement underlined that in collaboration with public services and community associations, an additional 15 collection points will be installed in public spaces in Macau, bringing the total number of collection points to 58. The statement said that the machines will gradually come into operation.
The statement pointed out that the DSPA promotes the reduction of waste and the recycling of recoverable waste. It has launched various collection plans, including, among others, the collection of used batteries, electronic equipment and food waste, among others.
The statement said that further details about the DSPA can be found on the website at http://www/dspa.gov.mo or by calling 2876 2626.
