The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched the “Macao Full of Fun – Smart Trip Planner” yesterday, which will allow users to plan their own itineraries according to their sightseeing interests, according to a statement from the office.

The statement noted that the project integrates parts of community tourism while also replacing and re-incorporating the walking tour routes of its previous “Step Out, Experience Macao’s Communities”, while also aiming to bolster the communities’ economies and enable the development of smart tourism.

Aside from the functions of the “Smart Trip Planner” website, the statement pointed out that “Macao Full of Fun” has community tourism components including information about Macau’s “Distinctive Shops” and cultural and creative shops as well as a selection of leisure and entertainment activities.

The trip itineraries can cater to the interests of users for a comprehensive exploration of different local communities and is expected to revitalise local communities and the communities’ economies, the statement underlined.

The statement highlighted that four pre-designed walking tour routes are also available for visitors without specific sightseeing interests or goals, allowing them to explore tourist attractions in different districts. The statement listed the tour routes as follows: “World Heritage Tour in Central District”, “Art & Cultural Tour in St. Lazarus Parish”, “Portuguese Ambiance Tour on Taipa Island” and the “Tranquillity Tour in Coloane Village”.

The statement underlined that MGTO will continue to evaluate the development of smart tourism and explore different technologies applicable to tourism to generate plans for future tourism development. The statement added that it will diversify Macau’s “tourism +” to expand visitor sources and attract travellers from different market segments to the city.

The statement noted that the website can be visited at http://tripplanner.macaotourism.gov.mo, with MGTO emphasising that it will make efforts to augment the user experience.
