The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced on Saturday that the “Creative and Artistic Carnival” Themed Market, which is the debut activity of the “Tour Macao FUN Fair” series, was inaugurated at the Taipa Houses on that day.

According to the statement, the market is organised by the Industry and Commerce Federation of the Islands, jointly organised by MGTO, and co-organised by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the Supporting Office to the Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, and the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).

The statement noted that the market will be held at the Taipa Houses over weekends from November 6 to 28 to draw visitors into the community “for sightseeing and spending.” The statement noted that the market has over 20 stalls run by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. on those days, while the market also features cultural and artistic performances, creative workshops and interactive games, adding that SMEs are provided an opportunity to promote the city’s products at the market.

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes was quoted by the statement as saying that aside from fostering community tourism and the economy, the activity series also aims to benefit SMEs in the area, adding that she hopes that the upcoming collection of mega events can attract more visitors to explore local districts and stimulate the community’s economy.

Meanwhile, the statement pointed out that the “Tour Macao FUN Fair” will offer a series of activities that feature tourism, trade and commerce, culture and creativity to promote “Macau’s Distinctive Shops, products from Portuguese-speaking countries and cultural and creative products, deepen cross-sector integration of “tourism+”, raise the vitality of local communities and stimulate their economy.”

The statement underlined that another activity of the “Tour Macao FUN Fair” series will be organised by the Macau Borderless Youth Association and will take place in the front square of the Macau Science Centre next month.

The statement emphasised that the events will be held in compliance with the COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures set up by the Health Bureau (SSM), adding that participants must wear a facemask, undergo temperature checks, present a valid Macau Health Code and maintain one-metre social distancing.
