IAS launches subsidy for installing special home equipment for disabled

The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) said in a statement yesterday that it is starting to accept applications for its subsidy for installing special home equipment for the disabled today.

According to the statement, in order to improve the living standards for the disabled, the bureau launched the subsidy that is valid from today until November 30, 2024. The statement pointed out that for those who are successful in their application for the subsidy will be given up to 50 percent of the cost of each special piece of equipment, adding that each person can apply for up to three items. The statement underlined that each item can be subsidised for at most 10,000 patacas.

The statement said that to be eligible for the subsidy he or she  must have a “disability comprehensive evaluation card” issued by the bureau, a family income lower than a certain amount, and only own one residential property and/ or one parking space.
