The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) along with six local civil society organisations co-hosted a website launching ceremony and a seminar on its “Family Life Education Scheme” yesterday at the Macau Science Centre in Nape. The 5-year scheme aims to promote the development of healthy family relationships, according to an IAS statement.

IAS Deputy Director Tang Yuk Wa, seven representatives from the six civil society organisations, and other guests attended the event.

Tang said in his speech that his bureau and the civil society organisations co-established a “Family Life Education” team in 2020 and have laid out the “Family Life Education 5-year Scheme”.

The IAS statement said that the scheme consists of four elements: developing and promoting the scheme; enhancing education about family relationships; promoting the development of professional services; and strengthening social support. The statement pointed out that the scheme focuses on supporting newly married couples and families with newborn babies by organising activities related to marital relationships, parenting, sex education, and family resource management.

According to the statement, the website macaufamilylife.com has been officially launched. The statement said that the website aims to help build positive relationships in families. It has self-learning resources such as family life education articles, infographics, and short videos. Moreover, the statement pointed out that the bureau will constantly update information on the website about marriage preparation, marriage enrichment, families with newborn babies, child development, parenting, and sex education.

Tang also said that the website allows family members to gain more basic and fundamental knowledge, receive information on activities, and learn to maintain healthy relationships with one’s family members.
