The Land Registry and Mapping Bureau (DSCC) announced in a statement yesterday that it has completed improvements to its “Macau Satellite Positioning Reference Station Service (MoSRef)”.

The statement noted that the upgraded service include “raw observation data download and RTK correction service”, adding that it now supports BeiDou Navigation Satellite signals.

In the RTK (real time kinematic) method, a user receiver gets correction data from a single base station or from a local reference network.

The statement pointed out that the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System is an “all-weather and high-accuracy navigation satellite system” built and operated by the mainland, noting that the upgrades and enhancements to MoSRef were made to support BeiDou’s positioning applications in Macau.

The statement underlined that with the enhancements made, professionals in fields such as surveying and mapping, geographic information and construction surveying can experience “efficient and reliable high-accuracy positioning” services. Moreover, with the upgrades made, MoSRef now supports BeiDou’s signals in addition to the United States’ GPS and Russia’s GLONASS.

The bureau said that the reference stations such as the RINEX data download service and the all-weather NTRIP RTK service are offered to the public for free.

The statement underlined that the bureau continuously improves its fundamental surveying and mapping services, having established four constantly operating satellite positioning reference stations in the city that allow users access to the local reference stations’ data, as well as the shared data from four of Hong Kong’s reference stations through MoSRef.

The statement noted that further details and online applications can be found by visiting the MoSRef website at https://mosref.dscc.gov.mo.
