Due to a northeastern monsoon, the mercury is set to drop to around 13 degrees Celsius in Macau tomorrow, the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said in a statement this afternoon.

The observatory urged the public "to pay attention to the weather changes and take appropriate measures."

At 6:30 p.m. today, the temperature stood at 17 degrees Celsius, while relative humidity amounted to 58 percent.

Meanwhile, the weather station said in the same statement that Tropical Cyclone Rai was expected to gradually turn northward, entering Macau's 800 km tropical cyclone standby zone on Monday.

While saying that Rai was "expected to weaken," the observatory acknowledged that "the changes in its intensity are still uncertain at present." It forecast, however, that "the associated rain and cloud band will affect Macau from Monday to Wednesday."

The bureau said it would "keep monitoring the development of the tropical cyclone."
