The Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement yesterday that as the government’s e-consumption smartcard will become a normal Macau Pass next year, residents must be real-name registered in order to enjoy a subsidised bus fare.
According to the statement, starting from January 1 at 0:00 a.m., if residents want to continue using their smartcard as a regular Macau Pass, they must register the card in their name to be able to pay the subsidised fare of 3 to 4 patacas, or else they would need to pay the full 6-pataca bus fare.
Those who real-name registered before the year-end, the statement said, will not need to register again in January. The statement reminded residents that they will need to real-name register online and activate it at one of the card-tapping spots.
For any questions about the real-name registration system, residents can email info@macaupass.com, call 28727688 or visit www.dsat.gov.mo.
