The Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) announced this week that its officials, in conjunction with their colleagues from several other government entities, have repossessed two plots of land in Nam Van whose respective concessions had previously been annulled by the government.
The two plots, officially known as A3 and A4, are located between Grand Emperor Hotel and the Finance and IT Centre.
According to a DSSOPT statement on Monday, the officials carried out the repossession of the two idle plots earlier that day, A3 and A4, covering areas of 4,169 square metres and 4,563 square metres respectively.
According to the Official Gazette (BO), the government announced the annulments of the two plots’ land concessions in May 2018, as the respective leaseholders had failed to develop the plots listed in the concession agreements within the contractual periods.
According to the gazette, Plot A3 and Plot A4 were part of the various plots whose concessions were granted in 1991 under the then Nam Van Lake Development Plan, which then comprised Areas A, B, C and D.
Plot A3 was initially slated for a commercial building project, while Plot A4 was initially earmarked for a 28-storey five-star hotel project.
According to the gazette, the provisional land concessions of the two plots expired in July 2016.
The DSSOPT statement did not mention the future use of the two plots.
Residents have complained for years about pests such as cockroaches, mosquitoes, gnats and rodents from the two plots affecting the neighbourhood.
