An exhibition entitled “Art Vision Macau Sightseeing Tour”(藝想澳觀遊跡展覽) is on display in Colégio Diocesano de São José (CDSJ) 3rd Branch until January 28.
The exhibition features more than 20 artworks by 13 artists, including one from Shanghai, who are members of the local Cooperative Association of Arts and Culture of 37 Degrees (37度藝文合作社). It consists of artworks with different art mediums such as oil paintings, drawings, mixed media, graphic design, AR (augmented reality), and handcrafts.
The exhibition is co-hosted by CDSJ 3rd Branch and 37 Degrees.
According to a statement by the association, the display vows to showcase local artists’ work to students, aiming to allow local students to observe and experience artistic dimension and imagination through the exhibition, adding that students may be inspired to create art as well as demonstrate the spirit of art through the exhibition.
37 Degrees Director Janksy Lee (李志豪) told The Macau Post Daily during a visit to the exhibition that art could be expressed through different mediums and in diverse ways. He said his work features AR technology using a mainland AR platform which is easy to access and free of charge. Lee underlined that this allows visitors to use WeChat to interact with his artwork.
When asked by The Macau Post Daily about the exhibition’s objective, CDSJ 3rd Branch Vice Principal Ng Teng Chio (吳庭照) said that he hoped to support local artists and give students an opportunity to further develop their potential in sports and the arts. Ng said he believed that students would be able to know more about art and their possible career path to become an artist through the exhibition.
Ng pointed out that the exhibition is not open to the public. However, Ng said he would consider looking for a suitable area in the school for parents and the public to visit exhibitions in the future.
When asked about whether CDSJ 3rd Branch students have given their thoughts about the exhibition, 37 Degrees Secretary-General Ng Ka Yan (伍嘉欣) said that the students have come up with many questions. Ng underlined that the students have shown interest in finding out how to be an artist, what types of industries are related to art, and what challenges artists may face.
