An exhibition entitled “LanKwai Tang Fong: Saint Francis Xavier’s Church Story” (蘭桂騰芳:望廈聖方濟各堂區的成長故事) is on display until Saturday in Mong Ha.
The exhibition is hosted by the Catholic St. Francis Xavier’s Church.
The exhibition consists of historic items, photographs, and short clips to showcase the church’s development since the 1900s.
According to a statement by the church, the exhibition vows to remind people of when Canossian Sisters travelled from the West to Mong Ha village to help “countless” families and to take care of the sick and poor as well as abandoned babies.
Lankwai tang fong (蘭桂騰芳) in Cantonese has the meaning of blessing the future generations.
St. Francis Xavier’s Church was built in 1951 and is attached to an old people’s home near Mong Ha Hill.
The church is located in Mong Ha at 116 - 118 Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira. The exhibition is open to the public from Monday to Friday between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
