An event entitled “My !$x% Life – Exhibition by Heheandsheshe” (我的厭世人生–厭世他她作品展) aims to express the local artist’s dissatisfaction with life, according to a statement by the 10 Fantasia gallery. The exhibition is on display in rooms C01 and C02 at 10 Fantasia in São Lázaro district until Sunday.

The exhibition is co-hosted by the 10 Fantasia – A Creative Industries Incubator (瘋堂十號創意園) and the Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Church District. It is sponsored by the public Macau Foundation (FM).

The local artist, who does not reveal her birth name, created the character heheandsheshe in 2018. She joined the Craft Market Macau in 2019, 2020 and 2021; T.O.P (This is Our Place) Market in Mong Kok in Hong Kong; and 2020 Popup Asia in Taiwan.

A statement issued by the gallery quotes heheandsheshe as saying that rolling eyes and scowling faces have become a usual motion and that she “found the feeling of eye-rolling so cool”.

The statement says that people always face different kinds of pressure in society but most of them do not show their dissatisfaction when they’re unhappy. They would rather fake a smile. Thus, negative emotions are increasing day by day which people cannot release, the statement says, adding that, however, the artist underlines that she is living with a world-weary attitude does not mean that she does not enjoy life. On the contrary, she is “world-weary” because she is passionate about life.

The statement underlines that heheandsheshe’s expression has been in a state of eye-rolling which “completely” expresses her dissatisfaction, adding that the public are welcome to visit her exhibition if they come across feelings of weariness, and then move on.

10 Fantasia opens daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on Mondays), at 10 Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro. Admission is free.
