Macau's gross gaming revenue (GGR) rose by 6.1 percent year-on-year to 7.7 billion patacas (US$964 million) last month, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) announced today.
February was this year's first month to report GGR growth. In January, GGR fell by 20.9 percent year-on-year to 6.3 billion patacas.
Month-on-month, GGR rose by 22.3 percent in February, which started with the Chinese mainland's "Golden Week" Lunar New Year holiday.
In the first two months, GGR declined by 8.0 percent year-on-year to 14.1 billion patacas.
According to the latest available DICJ data, Macau had 42 casinos owned by six operators at the end of last year, including four SJM casinos whose operations were suspended at that time.
Macau's gaming industry has been severely affected by the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Foreign nationals without the right of abode in Macau have been barred from entering Macau for two years.
