A joint exhibition is showcasing artworks by Betty Ng Im Peng (吳艷萍) and José Lau Chon Long (劉春龍) to promote hope and vitality.
The exhibition is part of the “Embrace the Rainbow” (擁抱 • 彩虹) event which runs until January next year.
The exhibition is on display until Saturday in Room C03 at 10 Fantasia in S. Lázaro district.
The event series is co-hosted by the Ark Association of Macau Art (方舟澳門藝術學會), 10 Fantasia – A Creative Industries Incubator (瘋堂十號創意園) and the Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Church District (澳門望德堂區創意產業促進會). It is sponsored by the public Macau Foundation (FM).
The exhibition is themed “hope and recovery”, a statement by the gallery noted.
The statement underlines that “after the haze there will be a sunny day, the rainbow always comes after the wind and rain” (陰霾過後是晴天,彩虹總在風雨後).
Moreover, it quotes Ng as saying that a rainbow consists of many colourful hues which makes one happy. Ng pointed out that happiness could improve one’s immunity and pain would naturally decrease.
For Lau, the statement quoted him as saying that the COVID-19 pandemic has lasted for two years already in which people have become accustomed to living with it. Thus, Lau said, he wishes that his artwork can express everyone’s state of mind about the pandemic coming to an end eventually.
10 Fantasia opens daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on Mondays) at 10 Calçada de Igreja de S. Lázaro. Admission is free.
As part of the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures, visitors entering the venue are required to wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health code.
