Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) Director Fong Soi Kun said yesterday his bureau’s controversial decision not to hoist the No.8 typhoon signal was due to “scientific judgement”.

Macau’s weather chief also said the decision had not been influenced by anyone outside the bureau.

The bureau held a special press conference at his headquarters on Big Taipa Hill yesterday afternoon about its much criticised decision not to hoist the No. 8 signal.
