A local man was caught on Wednesday for tearing a motorcycle’s seat in Rua da Serenidade(永定街), Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said at a press conference on Friday.
The 61-year-old suspect surnamed Wai told the police that he is a retiree.
According to Wong, the local female victim reported to the Public Security Police on January 12 that her motorbike’s seat had been torn by someone. She told the police that she parked the motorbike in a parking space in Rua da Serenidade in Areia Preta earlier that day. When she returned to get the motorbike, she discovered that the seat cover had been torn. She reported the case to the police later that day, and the repair cost her 600 patacas.
Wong said that PSP officers scrutinised CCTV footage and identified Wai as the suspect. The officers told Wai to report to a police station on Wednesday. Wai admitted to damaging the motorbike. He told the police that the victim’s vehicle had blocked the way when he tried to ride away on his motorcycle so he tore the victim’s vehicle seat cover to vent his anger.
Wai has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a damage property charge, according to Wong.
