The Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) invited the design team of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic mascot Bing Dwen Dwen to share how the character has embedded ice elements, which represent the essence of winter sports and modern technology.
Liu Pingyun, chief executive of the design team behind Bing Dwen Dwen, shared his experience of working on the mascot yesterday on the university campus in Taipa. He said that when he was designing the panda, he was studying for his PhD at MUST, so there is a strong relation between the design and Macau. He admitted that in the process of designing the mascot, his team had overcome “enormous challenges” and made 21 major changes to present the final product. Liu stressed the importance of team spirit and group coordination in the process.
