The Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) hosted its first Online Open Day, according to a statement from the private tertiary education institution yesterday.

The open day on Saturday, which the statement noted was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was done through online live talks and webinars. Students and parents interacted with various faculties, the School of Graduate Studies, the Admissions Office, and watched “Art Troupe performances”, the statement added.

Moreover, through an eight-hour streak of webinar sharing, parents and students listened to lectures given by “professors, postdoctoral researchers, and outstanding professors from the two State Key Laboratories of the University and other Faculties”, the statement underlined. There were also games and a “giveaway survey”.

The statement pointed out that students interested in applying to study at the university can do an “Admission Consultation” through 35 virtual booths to know more about their preferred programmes through 16 live talks and 17 webinars.

According to the statement, MUST President Chair Prof. Joseph Lee Hun-wei underlined during the event’s opening ceremony that it coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the University’s founding. The statement also quoted Lee as saying that in the future, MUST will carry out “in-depth cooperation with universities and enterprises in the Greater Bay Area [GBA]” in fields including innovative education, the health industry and youth innovation, and “jointly promote the development of scientific research innovation, production, education, research, and teaching”.

The online open-day platform will remain open until May 22 and can be visited at https://www.must.edu.mo/must-openday, the statement said.
