A non-resident worker from the mainland touched a local woman’ buttocks twice on a public bus last week, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Wong identified the suspect as a 55-year-old surnamed Feng who told the police that he works as a chef.

When the 30-year-old woman was on a No. 33 route bus travelling from Taipa to the peninsula’s Praça de Ferreira do Amaral (亞馬喇前地) on her way to work at around 9 a.m. on Thursday last week, she felt that a man, Feng, touched her buttocks twice, Wong said.

The woman argued with Feng, but she did not report the case to the police at that time because the bus had arrived at her destination where she had to get off and go to work, according to Wong.

That afternoon after work, Wong said, the woman reported the case to the Public Security Police.

After scrutinising the bus’s CCTV footage, PSP officers confirmed that a man had touched the woman’s buttocks, and identified Feng as the suspect after scrutinising the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system, Wong said.

PSP officers caught Feng in Rua do Visconde Paço de Arcos (巴素打爾古街) in the Inner Harbour area near the Ponte 16 casino-hotel the next day, Wong said.

Under questioning by the police, Feng admitted to touching the woman’s buttocks on the bus.

Feng has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further questioning, facing a sexual harassment charge, which carries a prison term of up to one year.
