A Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) statement released on Wednesday announced that the resort operator is sending out four dragon boat teams comprising GEG team members from different properties to compete in support of the Macau International Dragon Boat Races for the 17th consecutive year.
The teams are namely: Galaxy Phoenix, Galaxy Elegance, Galaxy Pearl and Galaxy Glamour, the statement noted. A blessing ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre yesterday for the four teams, the statement noted. It was attended by executives such as Deputy Director of Operations of StarWorld Hotel Andy Lee and Senior Vice President of HR Centre of Excellence of Human Resources and Administration of GEG William Gibbon, among others.
The executives conveyed their blessings to the teams through “traditional eye dotting rituals, cutting the roasted pigs, and distributing red packets to the team members”.
The statement pointed out that GEG acts in line with the local COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures and implement them during training, such as through providing facemasks to the team members and temperature checks “to ensure they can take part in the races with their best condition”.
The statement quoted the GEG Dragon Boat Team’s coach and captain, Tyson Hoi in the statement,as saying: “We appreciate the tremendous support that the company has given to the GEG Dragon Boat Team, as well as the training and aid that it has provided to us over the years”. The statement also quoted him as saying that the team will “continue to aim for the best through teamwork and endurance”, and that “all the participating team members have got the COVID-19 vaccine to ensure health and safety.”
