‘4th Macao Integrated Tourism & Leisure Enterprise Vocational Skills Competition 2022’ to start on Wednesday

Macau Federation of Trade Unions (MFTU) Vice President Fong Ka Fai said yesterday during a press conference about the two-day “4th Macao Integrated Tourism and Leisure Enterprise Vocational Skills Competition 2022” at the MFTU headquarters in Rua da Ribeira do Patane that the opening ceremony of the competition will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at MGM Cotai.

The Macau Federation of Trade Unions (MFTU) is known as Gung Luen in Cantonese.

Fong said that the competition is co-hosted by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and Gung Luen, and co-organised by the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT), Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and the Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.), in conjunction with Macau’s six gaming operators : SJM Holdings, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), Sands China, Melco International Development, Wynn Macau, and MGM China Holdings.

Fong said the aim of the competition is to increase the professional quality of local gaming practitioners and encourage communication in the tourism and leisure sector, adding that the training of high quality and professional capacity staff is an important process for the integration of Macau with the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The GBA comprises the two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau and the nine municipalities of Dongguan, Foshan, Guangzhou, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Shenzhen, Zhaoqing, Zhongshan and Zhuhai in Guangdong province.

Fong said that the competition will be divided into three categories, namely the “Gaming and Entertainment Professional Skills Competition”, “Hotel Services Professional Skills Competition” and “Gastronomy Professional Skills Competition”, adding that the competitions will start after the opening ceremony at MGM Cotai and continue until Thursday.
