There was a landslide at a construction site near the public Conde de Januário Hospital Centre triggered by heavy rain yesterday, causing damage to nearby buildings, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in a statement.

The landslide occurred in Estrada de São Francisco at 7 p.m. yesterday.

The statement said the landslide affected the lower levels of the affected buildings, damaging rooms and the windows’ metal wind guards.

The statement also said that an affected stone wall might be a cultural relic, and the Fire Services Bureau has already informed the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) about the incident.

The statement underlined that no one was injured, but stressed that the Fire Services Bureau is still investigating the structural safety of the affected buildings.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau said in a statement last night that the stone wall is indeed an immovable property classified as cultural heritage, promising that it will work with the relevant entities to confirm the cause of the incident.
