The Paris-based Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) announced this week that “the FIA Formula 3 World Cup in Macau will not take place in 2022 due to ongoing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic”.
The international governing body for auto racing events announced the decision in a statement on its website on Wednesday, after a meeting of its World Motor Sport Council.
The statement also said that “due to the ongoing quarantine restrictions and associated logistical challenges in Asia, rounds of WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup and FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup set to take place on the continent will not be held this year.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Macau Grand Prix has been slimmed down since 2020.
According to the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Macau Grand Prix is slated to be held on November 17-20 and is planned to feature the Chinese F4’s final round.
