BEIJING – The national sci-tech programs will be further opened up to the Hong Kong and Macau special administrative regions with greater intensity and scope, Science and Technology Minister Wang Zhigang said yesterday.
The central government's National Key R&D Program and Sci-Tech Innovation 2030 – Major Project will add 15 special projects for Hong Kong and Macau in life and health sciences, artificial intelligence (AI), communication, new materials, and electronic information this year, Wang said during an online event.He noted that support will be given to more patriotic researchers from Hong Kong and Macau to participate in major national scientific research.
Previously, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), together with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant departments, introduced several measures to help Hong Kong and Macau boost sci-tech innovation, and deepen sci-tech cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macau.
