Lessons for those learning to ride a motorcycle will be resumed on a limited basis from tomorrow, the Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement on Tuesday, underlining that learners are required to make appointments for their lesson times via its online system before their lesson.

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, the bureau had suspended all driving lessons and examination services since June 20, according to the statement, which added that starting today an online system will be provided for those holding an expired “provisional driving licence” to download their “provisional driving licence supplementary documents” to continue their lessons.

The statement noted that an “online appointment system” at https://www.dsat.gov.mo/dsatbooking/ will be launched today for seven days for people wanting to take lessons to ride a motorbike to make an appointment. It added that no appointment will be required for driving lessons outside the venue.

The bureau reminded learners with a valid provisional licence to log in electronically before their lessons. More details will be sent to driving schools, the bureau added.

The statement underlined that in accordance with the government’s COVID-19 prevention and control measures, people entering the site must undergo a temperature check, wear their facemask and show their green Macau Health Code, as well as keep on-site social distancing after entering the site.

Enquiries can be made by calling the bureau on 8866 6363 during office hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or by emailing info@dsat.gov.mo.

Vehicle inspections to reopen on Saturday

Meanwhile, the bureau announced in a statement yesterday that some vehicle inspections will be resumed from Saturday through next Friday, adding that the motorbike inspection service will only be provided for those who have made appointments from June 20 through tomorrow but have been unable to have their motorbike inspected due to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

The statement noted that registrations for new motorcycles and cars, as well as their inspection arrangements, will also be maintained through next Friday. However, the periodic inspections of cars, trailers and semi-trailers remain suspended, the statement added.

According to the statement, owners can make an appointment for their vehicle’s inspection from tomorrow to August 5 via the DSAT online booking system on https://vb.dsat.gov.mo from today through next Thursday.

The statement underlined that all administrative procedures for new cars and motorbikes can only be carried out at the Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre in Cotai, while the reserved inspection places for cars and motorcycles will remain at the Motor Vehicles Inspection Centre and Motorcycle Inspection Centre in Cotai and Avenida 1º de Maio respectively. Those who completed and passed the vehicle inspection can immediately pay their vehicle’s licence tax on the spot, the statement noted.

In order to avoid crowds gathering, people are required to go to the respective premises at their scheduled time, the statement said, adding that they must follow the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures by wearing their KN95 facemask or one with a higher standard, undergoing a temperature check and showing their Macau Health Code while scanning the venue QR code. The statement underlined that people holding a Red Macau Health Code and coming down with a fever are not allowed to enter the premises.
