Orbis announced in a recent statement the launch of its Mid-Autumn Charity Sale online, which is done with the support of long-time partner Kee Wah Bakery and Hong Kong illustrator “Ding Dong”.

The statement noted that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, with its first flight to Panamá beginning the non-governmental organisation’s sight-saving journey.

The statement said that the design of the festive items in the charity sale will feature Orbis mascot Seymour the bear and the landmarks of some countries where the organisation has conducted sight-saving programmes over the years such as Ethiopia, Perú, and India.

The items for sale include mini mooncakes with three different flavours: Maltitol Low-Sugar Lotus Seed Paste, Yolk Custard and Red Bean Paste with Mandarin Peel, which the statement underlined are each individually sold in a specially designed container and priced at 45 patacas, according to the statement.

Other items include the Deluxe Mini Mooncake Gift Set for 125 patacas and three limited edition gift sets ranging from 188 patacas to 288 patacas, which have mooncakes and specially designed Orbis merchandising. Moreover, the Mini Earl Grey Tea Custard Mooncake makes its debut to Orbis supporters and is exclusive to Gift Set 2 at 208 patacas.

The statement added that tea, in customary tradition, being the perfect accompaniment to mooncakes, three popular fragrant teas from the “Kee Wah Deluxe Tea Series” are offered, which are the Pu-erh Tea, Iron Buddha (Ti Kuan Yin) Tea and Biluochun Tea, which are available in two sizes.

The statement pointed out that to commemorate its 40th anniversary, donors can also get a double-glass Orbis Bear Mug for 68 patacas with the purchase of each gift set.

Details on the items and charity sale can be found at www.orbis.org/mo-midautumn-en.

Items are available for order until September 9. The statement said that all net proceeds will be used for funding Orbis’ global sight-restoring initiatives.
