The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday that a play titled “The Walk-in Family” is slated to premiere at the Macau Cultural Centre’s (CCM) Small Auditorium on September 23-24.

The play, according to the statement, is part of a number of productions commissioned and conceived to support the local performing arts scene.

The statement noted that the play tells the story of a group of people who secretly move into a large furniture store. Driven by “shared illusions, pursuing a certain lifestyle and aspiring to the same middle-class dreams”, the group grows closer, turning the public space into “an unlikely home”.

The local cast is lead by director Mabina Choi and playwright Mok Keng Fong to tell a “humorous story”, with singing and dancing to original Cantopop inspired songs. The music will be interpreted in various genres arranged by Hong Kong music director Wong Yee Lai and choreographed by local dancer Annette Ng.

Tickets are available at CCM’s box office and Macao Ticketing Network from 10 a.m. today, with various discounts.

The venue, the statement pointed out, will act in line with the government’s pandemic prevention guidelines, operating at a capacity of 75 percent and requiring audiences to either present proof of having completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before the show, or a negative nucleic acid test (NAT) issued within the previous 48 hours.

The statement emphasised that those failing to follow the requirements will not be allowed to enter the auditorium and tickets will not be refunded. For more information, visit www.ccm.gov.mo or call the credit card ticketing hotline at 2840 0555.
