The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement on Friday that offline promotions in the mainland had resumed owing to the favourable border crossing measures.
The statement noted that in conjunction with local tourism enterprises and mainland e-commerce platforms, among others, MGTO will arrange for nine weekends from August to December to visit the nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to hold the “Experience Macao, Unlimited” roadshow, with the first stop in Zhuhai’s Aoyuan Plaza on Saturday. The roadshow, the statement said, will combine offline activities and online promotions.
The statement added that various local government entities, enterprises and commerce associations will cooperate in holding this year’s first “Macao Week”, which is the “Shandong-Qingdao Macao Week”, between September 8-12. The event will showcase the city’s “featured elements” including tourism, trade and commerce, culture and creativity. The local industry, the statement said, will also offer tourism discounts to attract more mainland tourists to visit and spend in the city.
Moreover, MGTO has also launched new short videos and promotional posts on its online platforms such as WeChat, and Little Red Book (Xiaohongshu). The statement underlined that MGTO also is enhancing cooperation with e-commerce and online travel agencies, and together with the “Experience Macao, Unlimited” monthly activities, increasing and promoting hotel and flight ticket offers. It has also created marketing campaigns for target market segments, the statement added.
The statement pointed out that MGTO is also planning to produce a short video of tourists’ travel experiences. Tourists were sought out by MGTO in different tourist attractions in the city, with a young couple from Jiangmen becoming the first “lucky tourists” to be offered a new courtesy travel itinerary.
MGTO emphasised that it is paying close attention to the COVID-19 pandemic situation and following the Health Bureau’s (SSM) guidelines, as well as making adjustments accordingly.
