The Meteorological and Geophysics Bureau (SMG) issued an Orange hot weather alert on its website yesterday afternoon, warning that today’s weather is predicted to be “extremely hot”.
According to the statement, the maximum temperature is forecast to be 36 degrees or above, with the bureau urging members of the public to beware of heatstroke, avoid outdoor activities and drink more water.
Meanwhile, the statement pointed out that members of the public can take measures such as avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun and taking precautions against UV radiation; not staying inside a parked vehicle outdoors for long periods; and for vulnerable groups such as seniors, children, those with chronic illnesses, pregnant women and the obese to stay in an indoor venue with moderate temperature and good ventilation.
