Several members of the government-appointed Urban Planning Council yesterday urged the government to consider constructing government buildings on a plot in Nam Van that would be higher than what it proposed.
Yesterday’s meeting, held at the Transport Bureau (DSAT), included a discussion of the proposed legal conditions for the plot where the government proposes to erect a 18-metre-tall building and another 25.9-metre-tall building which would include an exhibition hall, a convention centre and government offices.
Several members said they believed that the proposed height is too low, adding that taller buildings should be built so that more government offices could be accommodated, particularly as the government was spending a large amount of money every year renting privately-owned properties for its offices.
