The case of a Filipina shop assistant being held at knifepoint earlier this week was a plot by a colleague and her boyfriend to steal money from the store after he gambled his month’s salary away, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a special announcement yesterday.

A PJ spokesman said that the two suspects are a 37-year-old female surnamed Dargo, and her 43-year-old boyfriend surnamed Sutikno, both from Indonesia.

According to the spokesman, Dargo was the shop assistant who called the police about the hold-up that happened at her workplace, a Circle K store near the Barrier Gate, early Wednesday morning.
