Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a recent statement that it co-hosted the “Best Mom Award” with the Women’s General Association of Macau, commonly known as Fu Luen in Cantonese, on Sunday at Studio City.

According to the statement, the awards were held to “pay tribute to maternal love, promote positive family values and provide a platform through which the community can show gratitude and appreciation towards women and motherhood”. Moreover, it also highlighted Melco Women’s Initiatives’ message of “Best I Can Be”, which the statement said encourages women to “embrace life’s choices and to bring out the best in oneself”.

The awards, the statement said, were launched in 2019 and have been well received by the community. The statement noted that 10 Best Mom Excellence Award winners were recognised and awarded with a Studio City experience package, while Merit Awards were also presented to 20 runner-up Best Moms. There were also 40 Consolation Prizes given to “highly commended applicants”.

Moreover, the winners also shared their stories with the audience, while the event also saw a debut performance of the award’s theme song “The First Love”.

Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho Yau Lung was quoted in the statement as saying: “Initiatives for women continue to be an important pillar of Melco’s Corporate Social Responsibility. Our ‘Best I Can Be’ philosophy encourages women to embrace life’s choices, and to feel empowered upon making choices to bring out the best in oneself”, adding that Melco is pleased to co-organise the event with association for the third consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Women’s General Association of Macau Vice-President Grace Wong Kit Cheng said that the association has always attached importance to the needs of mothers such as maternity leave, maternal and child health care and family-friendly policies. “Looking ahead, it is hoped that more opportunities for partnerships can be available between the government, enterprises and associations” to provide more diverse and meaningful services and activities for mothers and families.
