The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday that it has set up the “Macao Creative Pavilion” in conjunction with the Cultural Development Fund at the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE).

The statement noted that the expo is organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. It will be held until Thursday at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai.

Macau’s pavilion was set-up to enable the local fashion industry to explore business opportunities in the mainland and showcase Macau’s “creative and diverse cultural image”, according to the statement.

The statement said that the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Cultural Development Fund have helped arrange for the participation of 12 cultural and creative entities from Macau at the expo, with the participating brands being: C/W COLLECTIVE, Demi*D, Earlyink, ella épeler, GELÉE FASHION DESIGN, GODDESS ARMOUR, La Mode Désir, Lexx Moda, O.N.E, Sanchia, SARA LOLO and work.in.process.mo.

The “Macao Creative Pavilion” is located in the Consumer Products Pavilion, covering an area of around 250 square metres. The statement said that the pavilion, which is designed based on the concept of elasticity, is showcasing exhibits combining “rotation, dynamic state and multi-dimensionality” to signify the “creative spirit of breaking through under pressure”.

Macau original brands are presented for the first time with the theme of original fashion, while fashion shows will also be held to present fashion products and accessories featuring Macau’s unique style, the statement noted.

The statement underlined that by participating in national-level business events, the bureau will “make good use of the diverse and international MICE platform to raise awareness and recognition” of Macau brands in the mainland, promote Macau cultural enterprises’ development in the mainland and integrate them into the country’s overall development.
