A non-resident worker (NRW) was apprehended on Monday for peeping at his colleague in a staff toilet, Public Security Police (PSP) Lam Keong said at a regular press conference yesterday.

Lam said the mainland suspect surnamed Zhu, who is in his thirties, works as a shop assistant in Avenida de Kwong Tung in Taipa. The victim is a local in her twenties.

According to Lam, when the victim was using the unisex toilet on Monday at the mezzanine level of the shop where they worked, she suddenly saw Zhu peeping at her through the space above the cubicle door. They stared at each other for a second, after which Zhu left the toilet to continue working.

Lam said that the victim was frightened and reported the case to the police later that day. Zhu, still working at the shop, was taken to a police station later that day for questioning, where he claimed that he had “accidentally” glanced at the victim when he was “cleaning the toilet”. Nonetheless, Lam said another female colleague claimed that Zhu had intentionally followed the victim into the toilet.

Zhu has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to Lam.
