A drunk local man was arrested for insulting and shoving a police officer, Public Security Police (PSP) Lam Keong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Lam said that the suspect surnamed Lam, who is in his thirties, works as a driver.
According to the spokesman, Lam, the suspect, took his wife to the emergency department’s waiting room at Kiang Wu Hospital in the wee hours on Saturday. While waiting, Lam suddenly became emotional and started screaming at people around him.
A police officer arrived at the scene, asking Lam to calm down, the spokesman said, adding that not only had Lam, reeking of alcohol, not listened to the police’s request, but had also sworn at him and pushed the police officer. Lam was eventually subdued and arrested in the waiting room.
Lam has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of aggravated insult, causing bodily harm, and disobedience.
