Japanese kappo restaurant Zuicho will open at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (GLP) next Friday, where diners will be able to enjoy an “elevated” kappo experience, featuring well-honed, diverse culinary techniques imparted by traditional kappo masters, according to a recent GLP statement.

The statement pointed out that this will be the brand’s first restaurant outside Hong Kong.

The statement noted that the term “kappo” refers to “to cut and to cook”, and is a form of high-end Japanese dining that emphasises the interaction between diner and chef, with a wide variety of dishes masterfully prepared in an open kitchen and served right in front of the guest.

The seasonal menu will draw from a well of culinary expertise, featuring Japanese delicacies such as sushi, sashimi, steamed and grilled dishes, hotpot and rice dishes, while the multi-course menu will feature chef’s recommendations tailored to showcase the best in-season ingredients, the statement said, adding that the restaurant boasts a beverage list of world-class sake and wine, as well as traditional Japanese tea, whisky, and beer.

Zuicho in Hong Kong was awarded one Michelin star in its first year of operation last year and became the region’s first traditional kappo restaurant with the prestigious honour, according to the statement.

The restaurant, which is located on Level 3 at Grand Lisboa Palace, will open daily from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
