Shoppes at Londoner was awarded the ‘Most Innovative Retail & Tourism Destination 2022’ at the 2022 Global Retail & Leisure International (RLI) Awards, according to a recent statement from Sands Shoppes Macao.
The statement released last week said that the award ceremony was held on November 2 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
The Global RLI Awards, according to the statement, is a premier event for the retail industry and is held by Retail & Leisure International, the only global magazine to cover both retail and leisure sectors. This year’s event recognised “exceptional projects” in 20 different categories, with a judging panel comprised of a group of leading industry experts who review eligible submissions and score them and then inform the RLI Awards team.
The Most Innovative Retail & Tourism Destination award, meanwhile, recognises “the most outstanding contribution to the retail and tourism sector over the past year” and rewards projects that have created an “extraordinary experience for tourists and tenants alike”, the statement said.
Las Vegas Sands Corp. Global Retail Executive Vice President David Sylvester was quoted by the statement as saying: “We are thrilled to have won this much sought-after accolade, which recognises Shoppes at Londoner as one of the most visionary and innovative retail and leisure concepts from across the globe, and validates Sands’ constant efforts to bring the best luxury retail experiences to Macau whilst creating unique experiences for our guests across the integrated resorts”.
The statement added that Shoppes at Londoner recreates the London street scene, noting that guests can explore over 150 world-famous brands across 600,000 square feet (55,700 square metres) of retail space, including top luxury brands, international fashion brands, among others. Integrating a shopping experience with being a visitor attraction, the retail complex also features details and photogenic spots such as the Victorian-era feature elevator and replicas of Greater London Blue Plaques, the statement said.
The statement noted that Sands Shoppes Macao’s previous wins include the ‘RLI International Shopping Centre 2017’ for Shoppes at Parisian and ‘RLI Shopping Centre Renovation 2014’ for Shoppes at Four Seasons.
