A woman was arrested on Saturday for illegally recording police officers, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said in a regular press conference yesterday.
Cheong noted that the 30-year-old suspect surnamed Wong told the police that she’s jobless.
According to Cheong, Wong called the police for assistance in the wee hours of Saturday saying that she had fallen down and got injured in her flat in Rua Sul do Patane.
When police arrived at the scene they could see that Wong, reeking of alcohol, was not hurt at all. Wong then pulled out her mobile phone and started recording the police officers.
One of the officers warned her to stop recording and delete the video, but Wong refused and locked her phone instead. She was arrested in her home and was taken to a police station.
Under questioning, Wong claimed that she merely wanted to record the process of how the police handle cases.
Wong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where she faces an illegal recording charge, according to Cheong.
