The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) on Monday at 7:25 p.m. that a man was believed to have committed suicide by hanging himself at his home on Travessa do Bem-Estar near the Red Market, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement that night.
The deceased was a 72-year-old local man surnamed Lam.
According to the statement, when Lam’s son got home from work at 6:45 on Monday, he found that his father had hanged himself with a rope on the balcony. He immediately called the emergency services. Lam was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to the statement, PJ officers saw marks on Lam’s neck, and confirmed that the marks matched the rope that he had used to hang himself.
No suicide note was found at the scene, the statement said.
The statement said that a post-mortem examination will be performed.
